Before you start
- A business email address to register with
- Chrome, Edge, or Safari (latest two versions)
- A headset or built-in mic if you’ll be making calls yourself
- 1
Create your Adoptiv account
Head to adoptiv.com/signup and register with your business email. You'll pick a workspace name — this becomes your subdomain (for example,
acme.adoptiv.com). Workspace names can't be changed later, so choose something short and recognizable. After verifying your email you'll land on the onboarding wizard. Follow the four-step flow: profile → workspace → team → number. You can skip “team” and “number” for now if you just want to poke around.
- 2
Invite your team
Open Settings → Team and click Invite users. Paste emails separated by commas, pick a role for each, and send.
Adoptiv ships with four default roles:
- Owner — full admin + billing. One per workspace.
- Admin — everything except billing.
- Manager — can see team-wide data, assign campaigns, listen to calls.
- Agent — can only see and act on their own contacts + deals.
Need finer control? Build a custom role under Settings → Roles & Permissions.
- 3
Connect a phone number
Go to Telephony → Numbers and click Buy a number. Filter by country, area code, or capability (voice / SMS / MMS). Pick one and click Purchase — it goes live in about 30 seconds.
Already have a number with another carrier? Use Port / BYOV to bring it in. Enterprise plans support BYOV (Bring Your Own Voice) so you can keep your existing carrier contract.
- 4
Make your first call
Open Dialer from the left nav. Enter any number in the quick-dial field and click Call. Adoptiv will connect your mic / headset, ring out, and auto-log the call to whatever contact matches the number.
After the call ends you'll see the auto-generated transcript, AI summary, and next-action suggestions in the activity feed.
- 5
Set up a basic workflow
Open Workflows → New workflow. Pick the “Missed call → SMS follow-up” template — it sends an automated SMS to any missed inbound call, logs both to the contact, and creates a task for the owning agent.
That's your first automation. When you're ready for more, browse the template gallery — there are 40+ prebuilt flows for sales, support, and operations.
